Borislav Bora Kiselički (1950–2021)

Borislav Bora Kiselički (1950–2021)

Today, we say goodbye to Bora Kiselički, a wonderful grandfather, father, husband, brother, colleague, teacher, and friend.

He was born in 1950. He completed elementary and high school in Novi Bečej and graduated in mathematics from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Belgrade. Bora spent his entire career at the High School in Novi Bečej as an outstanding mathematics teacher. He was beloved by his students and highly respected by his colleagues. Bora prepared many students for further education, and they always appreciated and were grateful to him for this.

Borislav Bora Kiselički (1950–2021)He was also a respected sports worker, particularly excelling in basketball. As a high school student, he was a member of the school basketball team, which achieved remarkable results. Bora played as a senior member of the Jedinstvo basketball club for many years, which competed in the Banat League. He was especially active in the high school’s sports society, "Mladost," a true nursery for young athletes. Bora took a break from sports during his studies, but when he started working at the high school in 1976, he returned to basketball. For many years, he coached the men's senior team, which successfully played games on the school gymnasium’s outdoor court. With the opening of a new sports hall, he dedicated himself to youth teams, and from 1991, he served three terms on the Board that managed the sports hall. He was also a long-time member of the Basketball Club management, responsible for youth team development. In recognition of his teaching work, he received the Svetosavska Charter in 2018, which represents only a small part of what he truly deserved.

With Bora, you could discuss various topics; sometimes debates were spirited, but there was never any hard feelings. That’s one of the reasons why people liked and respected him. Every encounter with Bora was warm, with a smile and a fitting comment. People admired his manners and dignity.

He retired with hopes of continuing to teach mathematics to those interested and spending more time with his family. He especially enjoyed his afternoon trips to the Tisa River, where he relaxed by sunbathing and swimming. And if you ever walk along the Tisa near the Monastery, turn your gaze to the river, or wave, for that is Bora’s place.

But this global scourge, whatever one calls it, seems to take the best among us, and to everyone’s shock and sadness, it took Bora from us.

We know it will be hardest for his family: his grandchildren Pavle and Janko, daughters Jovana and Isidora, wife Olgica, and brother Mirko.

You were loved and respected by everyone: your family, generations of students, colleagues, and fellow townsfolk. You were a remarkable man, and that word suits you perfectly. You will remain that way forever in our memories.

Tears speak of the loss of the best among us. We are grateful to have known him and deeply thankful for the time spent with him!

Eternal glory and endless gratitude to you, dear man!
