Our school celebrates its centenary in 2010. We marked this magnificent jubilee with five days of activities celebrated at our school. Our hundredth birthday made all of us, the employees, prouder and more diligent, because celebrating a century of existence and dedicated work is no small feat, and it deserves attention.
Otherwise, the Elementary School "Miloje Čiplić" is the only school in the municipality of Novi Bečej that conducts classes in both Serbian and Hungarian. Additionally, it is the largest school in the Novi Bečej municipality in terms of the number of students, number of classes, spatial extent, and area.
Over the years, the number of students, and thus the number of classes, has varied. This school year, we have 604 students in 30 classes. In Serbian, 409 students attend classes in 20 sections, while in Hungarian, 195 students attend classes in 10 sections.
Classes are conducted in two shifts. The morning shift starts at 7:30 am, while the afternoon shift begins at 1:00 pm. The shifts alternate weekly. The school has 80 employees; 58 teachers and 22 non-teaching staff.
In the professional service, there are: one psychologist, one pedagogue, one librarian, one media specialist, and the administrative-financial service consists of one secretary, a head of accounting, and an administrative financial worker.
The school has an excellent and rich library, which possesses all the titles of mandatory reading. The shelves of the same library also house titles of optional literature available to all our school’s students.
In the offices of accounting and bookkeeping, two colleagues work. One colleague, a graduate lawyer who is also the secretary of our school, handles tasks related to school documentation and archives.
Ten workers take care of the cleanliness and hygiene of the building and the school surroundings.
In the school kitchen, two servers provide snacks for the students and also take care of providing lunch for the children placed in the extended stay program.
The school principal takes care of everything and resolves any potential problems.
The school has an excellent teaching staff. In the lower grades and in the extended stay program, class teachers and professors work in both teaching languages. Among them, 9 are professors of elementary education with a completed Teacher's Faculty.
Classes in the higher grades are mostly professionally covered. Subject teachers work with the students, although there are also some non-professionally covered staff.
The school also has 3 special classes for children with developmental delays. One defectologist takes care of these children, while in the remaining 2 classes, teachers are employed.
Elective classes are organized according to the school’s conditions and the students' wishes:
- Civic Education — 13 groups
- Religious Education — 16 groups
- Informatics and Computing — 18 groups
- Drawing, Painting, and Sculpting — 2 groups
For the sake of efficiency and better quality of teaching, teachers and professors regularly work with students, organizing supplementary and additional classes, as well as various clubs. Supplementary teaching is organized in all lower grades in mother tongue and mathematics, and in the higher grades, in addition to mother tongue and mathematics, supplementary classes are organized in biology, physics, chemistry, German, English, history, geography.
Additional classes are organized in mathematics, mother tongue, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, German, English, visual arts, music, and technical education.
Many students participate in extracurricular activities. In the higher grades, meetings of literary, drama, journalism, linguistic, recitation, visual arts, biology, history, chemistry, physics, geography, and ecological clubs are held. The school also has a traffic club, as well as sports clubs: for football, volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics. Thanks to such organized activities and clubs, students have always achieved commendable results at all levels of various competitions.
Children actively participate in the work of existing student organizations: the Red Cross Youth, Children's Alliance, and Sports Society.
Every year, we organize trips for students to nature schools and excursions. The final decision on excursion destinations is made by the Parents' Council, and such gatherings remain cherished in the hearts of our students as the most beautiful part of their growing up. This year, one-day and two-day excursions in Vojvodina and Serbia are planned. The following educational-excursion trips are planned by grade, with the specified duration:
- Grade I: Katai Farm, one day
- Grade II: Sombor Farms, one day
- Grade III: Novi Sad, one day
- Grade IV: Belgrade, one day
- Grade V: Sremska Mitrovica, one day
- Grade VI: Tršić, one day
- Grade VII: Oplenac-Aranđelovac, two days
- Grade VIII: Tara-Šargan Eight, two days
Eighth grade students realized their excursion in October, while the other excursions will be realized in May.
Since the beginning of the school year, we have had fewer activities and programs, including the reception of first graders, and the celebration and marking of Children's Week. In the upcoming period, we plan to celebrate St. Sava's Day, a small football tournament, School Day, the celebration of the upcoming New Year, the reception of first graders into the Children's Alliance, and Women's Day.
To improve the overall teaching process, teachers and educators regularly attend organized seminars, advance their knowledge, and apply newly acquired knowledge in educational work. Various activities in the life of our school, students, and teachers are realized through a readiness for continuous professional development, good cooperation with parents, and other organizations. We have well-established cooperation with the City Library, the Cultural Center, and the City Hall. Artists, writers, and poets visit our school every year during organized literary meetings and the Poetry Relay. Excellent cooperation has been established with local communities, the transport company "Bečejprevoz", professional institutions, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, social and working organizations, institutions, newspaper editorial offices, radio, primary and secondary schools, and our sister school from Knjaževac.
In line with these facts, and in the desire for all of us in our school, both students and employees, to be better in our work, more dedicated, persistent, and professional, we will continue to nurture all activities. In doing so, we will create a safer environment and a healthier outlook on life for our students. Together, we will ensure that life is viewed from a different, higher-quality perspective. And we are all proud to be part of such a great family, the family of Elementary School "Miloje Čiplić" from Novi Bečej.
