World War II was the most terrifying and bloodiest period of the twentieth century. This great conflict irreversibly altered the historical currents of Europe and the world, and its echoes are still present today. The rise and aggression of fascism were difficult to stop; however, the greatest evil ever seen in world history was confronted by anti-fascist fighters from all corners of the globe. From America to Australia, defenders rallied against Hitler and his allies under different banners.

In order to avenge the arrested and killed patriots, the activists of the National Liberation Movement began to prepare the liquidations of several prominent figures of the police. However, someone gave the plans to the police, so the plan failed. The discovery of this plan also led to the arrest of one of the most famous organizers of revolutionary activity in Banat - Serva Mihalj. It was written about him that "from being accepted into the party in 1920 until his death at the Banjik shooting range, he was in the front ranks of the working class.

Dejan Bošnjak provided a statement about his childhood and perspective on the antifascist struggle. He was born on September 1, 1933. He was a teacher in Zrenjanin and surrounding areas, engaged in journalism, a chronicler, and a great connoisseur of the Banat plain.

Historical revisionism is a multifaceted concept. It can be viewed as both a positive and negative tendency in science, depending on its motives. Historical science requires constant revision, and events from the past become clearer and more objectively examined over time. However, revision can have ideological or political motives, posing a threat to the scientific community and society as a whole in that form. Reassessing the past and presenting it in a completely different light is connected to many social aspects related to individuals as well as collectives.

The revision of recent Serbian history and the restoration of capitalism began with Slobodan Milošević coming to power, but they intensified after the October 5th changes in 2000. For this endeavor to be accomplished, it was necessary to erase from collective and individual memory all values and events that had challenged capitalism in the past.

Koča Kolarov was a revolutionary, poet, and participant in the People's Liberation Struggle. He was born in Melenci on August 2, 1914. His father, Marko Kolarov, died in World War I. With his mother Emilija, he moved to Veliki Bečkerek, where he completed high school. Vladimir was closely aligned with communist ideals from an early age.

Roža Šulman was a revolutionary and participant in the People's Liberation Struggle. She was born on January 6, 1917, in Veliki Bečkerek. There she completed primary school and a three-year academy. She quickly became acquainted with leftist ideas and joined the Communist Youth Organization.

Sonja Marinković is one of the most inspiring figures of the People's Liberation Struggle in Vojvodina. She was born on April 3, 1916, in Striježevica near Požega. Her mother was a teacher and her father a priest. After her mother's death, she moved to Surduk, a village in Srem near Stara Pazova, where she enrolled in elementary school.

Slavko Munćan was one of the most prominent revolutionaries and fighters of the People's Liberation Movement in southern Banat. He was born on June 6, 1910, in Kruščica, near Bela Crkva. He completed his high school education in Bela Crkva and Vršac, after which he enrolled in the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.

Servo Mihalj was one of the most prominent figures of the People's Liberation Struggle in the region of Banat. He was born in 1900 in Veliki Bečkerek into a working-class family. He worked as a laborer in a tailoring cooperative. At the age of twenty, he joined the trade union and shortly after, the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (CPY). He advocated for workers' rights, and he was arrested and beaten by the police several times.

Žarko Zrenjanin, known as Uča, was one of the prominent participants in the People's Liberation Struggle (NOB) in Banat, serving as the secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) for Vojvodina. He was an organizer of uprisings and a coordinator of partisan resistance. He was born on September 11, 1902, in Izbište near Vršac, into a peasant family.

Bora Mikin was a renowned fighter and partisan commander in Banat. He was born in 1909 in Melenci, into a prosperous farming family. After elementary school, he stayed on the estate at his father's insistence and engaged in fieldwork. As his hometown was largely inclined towards leftist ideas (many people from this area were participants in the October Revolution in Russia).

Toza Marković is one of the most significant inspirators and propagandists of the People's Liberation Movement in Vojvodina. He was born on July 13, 1913, in Taraš, into a poor family. He attended high school in Petrovgrad, but due to a lack of funds, he interrupted his education and went to Tuzla, where he found employment as a miner in the Kreka mine.

Žarko Turinski was one of the most prominent participants in the People's Liberation Struggle (NOB) in Banat. He organized and led partisan units and participated in many of the most dangerous actions against the occupiers.

Obren Janjušević was a prominent young fighter in the region of Banat. Alongside his peers, he underwent training in the Communist Youth League (SKOJ) and was dedicated to the People's Liberation Struggle from the beginning. Initially performing minor tasks, he served as a courier before eventually growing into one of the most dangerous fighters in Banat.

Nedeljko Barnić Žarki is one of the most prominent figures in the final period of the war in Banat. Through his actions and sacrifice, he made the final step towards freedom. He was born on September 13, 1922, in Melenci. He enlisted in the army during the April War, contributing the weapons and materials he gathered to the People's Liberation Movement.
