Dr. Aleksandar Kašaš

Dr. Aleksandar Kašaš

Dr. Aleksandar Kašaš was born on January 27, 1952, in Novi Bečej (Banat). He completed elementary school at "Miloje Čiplić" and gymnasium in his hometown. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, History Group, in 1976 in Novi Sad, and obtained his master's degree in Belgrade in 1983. He earned his doctorate in Novi Sad in 1995 with a thesis on the Hungarians in Vojvodina from 1941-1946. The book under the same title was published the following year and is currently in its second, revised edition.

He is the author of several books and publications, most notably "History of Hungarians" co-authored with P. Rokai, Z. Đere, and T. Palo, focusing on the history of the Hungarian people in the 20th century. He has published around sixty studies in leading historical journals both domestically and internationally. He has participated with presentations at numerous academic conferences, which have been published in conference proceedings.

Dr. Kašaš is a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, teaching Yugoslav History. Under his mentorship, one hundred seventy-two students have graduated, five have obtained master's degrees, and two have completed doctoral degrees.

He leads the provincial scientific project "Research on the Political, Economic, and Cultural History of Vojvodina." He has been a long-standing member of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia's expert group for history, ethnology, and archaeology and currently serves as a member of the Expert Council for Social Sciences and Humanities of the Senate of the University of Novi Sad.

He previously served as Vice Dean for Finance at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and has been a member of the Teaching and Scientific Council for several terms. He is a permanent associate member of Matica Srpska and the Department of Social Sciences of this institution. He is also a member of the Foundation of Historians Bogumil Hrabak, established by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Vojvodina to promote young scholars. He serves on the Editorial Board of the journal "Research" of the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and the Editorial Board of "Krovovi" from Sremski Karlovci.
