Dr. Vesna Milankov was born on July 28, 1967, in Novi Bečej. She attended elementary school "Miloje Čiplić" from 1974 to 1982, where she received the Vuk's Diploma for excellence. She enrolled in the "Svetozar Marković" school in Novi Sad in 1982, completing it with excellent grades in 1984.
She then attended the Medical High School "7. April" in Novi Sad, specializing as a medical nurse technician, from 1984 to 1986, also with excellent performance. In 1986, she started her studies at the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Biology, Applied Biology track, graduating in 1992. She obtained her Master's degree in Biology with a thesis titled "Genetic Variability of Sympatric Populations of Aedes caspius (Pallas, 1771) and Aedes dorsalis (Meigen, 1830) (Diptera: Culicidae)" in 1996. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology in 2001 with a dissertation titled "Evolutionary Relationships of the ruficornis and aeneus Groups of the Genus Merodon Meigen, 1803 (Diptera: Syrphidae)".
Her work history includes positions such as:
- 1992-1993: Specialist collaborator at the Laboratory for Entomology, University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Sciences, Department of Biology and Ecology.
- 1993-1997: Scholarship recipient from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Development of the Republic of Serbia.
- 1997-2001: Assistant (field: Evolution) at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Sciences, Department of Biology and Ecology.
