Jedinstvo Maintains Second Place at the European Cup

From the journalist’s notebook

During the second competition day of the European Cup in women’s bowling, held in Skopje, listeners of Radio Novi Bečej followed the performances of the Jedinstvo team and their fight for a place in the final stage of the competition.

First Report from Skopje

Dear listeners of Radio Novi Bečej, we have pleasant news again today.

Just ten minutes ago, Ildiko Kormanjoš completed her performance and delighted us with an outstanding result. In a fantastic finish, during the final 25 shots in the clearing round, she was exceptional – she knocked down 87 pins and, with a final score of 436 pins, managed to preserve Jedinstvo’s second position in the standings.

With great anticipation, everyone was waiting for the performance of Andrea Vaš. The listeners of Radio Novi Bečej were informed that the next report from Skopje would follow in the afternoon hours.

Second Report

After the second competition day, the standings in the women’s category remained unchanged, but four teams had clearly emerged as the main favourites for qualification to the final tournament.

The bowlers of Kofem from Székesfehérvár, Hungary, once again delivered an excellent performance. They convincingly held first place with a total of 1,802 pins knocked down.

The bowlers of Jedinstvo from Novi Bečej kept their second position, although Andrea Vaš’s performance brought moments of uncertainty. After the first 50 shots, there was some concern, as our bowler started well with 149 pins in the full set, but then experienced difficulties during the clearing phase. She knocked down only 44 pins, with as many as eight missed shots.

At one point, coach Laslo Makra considered making a substitution, but decided to allow Andrea Vaš to continue. It proved to be the right decision.

In the second set of 50 shots, Andrea Vaš showed her quality and determination. In the final stage, with several excellent throws, she improved her performance and finished the competition with 426 pins.

Despite some fluctuations during the game, this was a very valuable result, allowing the Jedinstvo team to maintain second place before the final competition day, with a total of 1,741 pins knocked down.

The final day of competition in Skopje promised a new battle for the top positions, as the remaining matches would decide which teams would qualify for the final stage of the European Cup.
